Eye Health: Glare

In September 2022, we launched an eye health series designed to help spread awareness and educate viewers on the many health benefits of quality sunglasses and prescription eyewear. Mahalo to Doctor AJ Contento from @Eye.Care.Unlimited for sharing his expertise on eye health and how Maui Jim eyewear is an important tool to help prevent irreversible damage to your eyes.

“We’re here to talk to you about glare. What is glare? Glare is light that is reflected off of a shiny surface. That could be glass. That could be water. Things like dirt and grass (when you’re at the park) don’t reflect the light.

“But when that light is reflected, we want to create polarization to cut down on those reflected images. The beauty of polarized sunglasses is that we put a film in to cut down on the light that’s scattered. This is like Venetian blinds.

“Polarization in the PolarizedPlus2® lens, Maui Jim cuts down on that glare, enhances the image, and protects the eyes from those damaging rays
