Aloha at Home with Captain Lee Rosbach
Superyacht Captain & Author

How are you and your family staying positive during quarantine?
Yes, there are a lot of positive silver linings I think. For starters, “honey do” lists have been getting shorter. Right now, you have no reason to NOT do things around the house any more. Spending more time with my lovely bride Mary Anne has also been wonderful for me, since I do travel a lot normally.
I also make sure to force myself to get up and go through my normal routine. It would be so easy to fall into a rut. I am not letting myself do that.
How has quarantine mixed up your usual routine?
Honestly, it has been terrible. I can’t go to the gym like I would normally do in the mornings, can’t go to get a haircut, can’t even go to the dentist. I can still be outside though. Which is great. It’s been hard to adjust. Having to cook all the time, not being able to celebrate our 45th anniversary.
How have you found your #AlohaAtHome?
Just the fact that we are so fortunate, you know, not financially strapped. We are lucky. I have been in that boat before, and I know what it is like, to not know where your next meal is coming from, and working 2-3 jobs, and my heart aches for the people right now in that situation.
We know we are among the lucky ones, and because of that I try and do what I can do for those kids that need it. This kids at Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center. They need help. We are trying
What are you most looking forward to doing after quarantine?
That is easy, a good steak and a bottle of wine! Being out, but still socializing properly. Not just having Zoom and computer meetings. They are great and needed right now, but you can’t get the full feeling when on the computer. We all need face to face meetings and socializing again.
What acts of kindness have you witnessed recently in your community?
One of the best things I have seen is just people getting out and taking walks together. Spending time together and paying attention to each other and their children right now, instead of electronics. I have noticed more and more couples out taking walks together.
Have you been able to stay active during quarantine?
Yes! It is so important to stay active. During the quarantine I got a Bowflex Max Trainer, and I have it set up in my garage. I also have my free weights and ab cruncher. I have been able to do some swimming and biking also.
I am doing what I can to get myself moving and stay active.
What’s the last adventure you had pre-quarantine?
Well, I was out of the country when this all started and just trying to get back in the country and home before they closed everything down. Let me tell you, that in itself was an adventure.
