#AlohaAtHome With Garbiñe Muguruza
WTA Professional Tennis Player

How are you staying positive during quarantine?
Facing this global challenge, I am focusing on staying active as much as I can, physically, mentally, and especially by having a calm mindset. During tough times, having a wide perspective that—even if it’s hard now, we are privileged people. I know that we are fortunate given that there are many people that have more basic and priority problems like poverty or living in danger.
How have you found your #AlohaAtHome?
It’s the little things. In quiet moments, in listening to music, or talking to friends and family…calm moments.
What are you most looking forward to doing after quarantine?
After quarantine I am so looking forward to jumping on an airplane or a road trip and resume my “world traveler” type of life. Preparing my tennis bag and my racquets and go out there to compete for trophies. Getting back that feeling of being an athlete, it is such an amazing feeling. Especially if you believe you still have a lot to achieve. It is hard to match the feeling when you walk into a stadium full of people and the nerves of being part of the entertainment.
What acts of kindness have you witnessed recently in your community?
Kindness is such an important quality and during tough times we have seen many people working harder than ever in unknown or dangerous circumstances for the simple reason of wanting people to feel and be healthy. Nurses and doctors working countless hours not knowing how they might feel after, just makes us proud and brave to face this virus.
What does Aloha mean to you?
Aloha is such an exotic word that immediately makes me feel welcome and happy. It has a sort of relaxing feeling behind it that I felt in my trip to Honolulu two years ago. Nice and warm people welcomed me to what would be a perfect, relaxing week.
What will you miss most about Wimbledon this year?
Wimbledon is such an important tournament for me. As a past champion, I hold incredible memories in my heart and the most exciting matches I have ever played. I will miss the elegance that the event brings us and certainly being part of one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments, if not the most.
What is your favorite pair of Maui Jim sunglasses?
My favorite pair is the Ilima.
