My Maui Jim Story - Slater Trout
Athlete: Water x Land x Sky
Tell us how you became a part of the Maui Jim ʻOhana?
My family uprooted and moved halfway across the world from Florida to Maui when I was 11 years old. When we arrived on Maui and I was quickly introduced to the waterman community through my passion for surfing and paddling. I quickly realized one thing, all the best waterman and women in Hawaii wore Maui Jim sunglasses. I knew I had to try a pair, that is when I was introduced to my first pair of Maui Jims in 2007.
What is your favorite thing about Maui Jim sunglasses?
My favorite thing about Maui Jim sunglasses is the quality of the lenses. I have been wearing Maui Jim for 14 years and one thing I have noticed is the high quality of craftsmanship has remained the same all this time. Most brands struggle to maintain quality as a top priority. Maui Jim has kept their products top of the line for many years. I know I can always trust my Maui Jims to be the best.
How does Maui Jim improve your lifestyle (on the water, on the boat, on your board, in your car, on the course, on the court)?
I notice my Maui Jims bring more color to my day (literally). It’s the simple things like driving to run errands, I drive by the ocean and I am blown away by the vibrant colors of the water, I soon realized my Maui Jims are producing those vibrant rich colors and it puts a smile on my face every time.
Tell us about the most beautiful thing you’ve seen or experienced in your Maui Jims?
The most beautiful thing I have experienced in my Maui Jims is skydiving out of a helicopter at 14,000ft over the North Shore of Oahu. The rich colors and views of the ocean and land from that high up will forever be ingrained in my mind.
